Stirling Engine output the work by repeating 4 thermal prosesses; isothermal heating, isovolumetric expansion, isothermal cooling and isovolumetric compression. But, the only one piston can't make this motion. Practical Stirling engine has tow displace volumes one of which is kept high temperature and next is kept low. Abobe 4 prosesss are accomplished by that The working gas of engine is reciprocated between these tow volume.
And practical engine added three elements of heat exchanger; Heater, cooler and Regenerator, for exchanging heat more effectively.
H:Heater
This element heat up the working gas.
K: Cooler
This element cool down the working gas.
C: Compression space
The working gas cooled by the Cooler flow into this space. this space displaced by power piston in 2 piston type Stirling Engine, or displacer piston and power piston in displacer type Stirling engine, mostly.
